UNESCO's Man and the Biosphere Program is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

UNESCO's Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

The United States was instrumental in the creation of both of these programs of UNESCO's Natural Science Sector.
