Devoted to the follow-up to the World Conference on Science (Budapest 1999) with respect to the elaboration of national S&T policies and related legislation for promoting human resources and institutional development in science and technology in developing countries and countries in transition; strengthening science education; improving university teaching, enhancing national research capacities and reinforcing regional and international co-operation in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, the biotechnologies and the engineering sciences.
